Marion Sanso


On Jan. 18, 2024, Marion M. Sanso, formerly of North Guilford and Killingworth, passed away peacefully at Twin Maples Healthcare Facility, Durham. Marion was born in Day Kimball Hospital, Putnam, and graduated from Guilford High School in 1949.

She was the daughter of the late Harold E. and Florence Lathrop Morrarty. She was predeceased by her husband, William “Bill,” who shared 66 years of marriage with her. She was the mother of William “Bill” Sanso Jr. of East Haven, Charles (Leanne) Sanso of Hollis, ME, Arthur “Sam” (Dianna) Sanso of Clinton, and Barbara (Michael) Lamb of East Fallowfield, PA. She is also survived by all her grandchildren: Shelby Sanso (Kevin) Smith, Charles (Erika) Sanso, Mallory Lamb Williams (Kaleb), and Kyle (Natalie) Lamb; six step-grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by three brothers, Harold, Stanley, and George Morrarty, and one sister, Beverly Morrarty Bartlett.

Marion worked at Fleischman’s Department Store for many years. She was a member of The Kings Daughters of Guilford. She enjoyed being a pen pal through Killingworth Elementary School and was a member of Killingworth Congregational Church since March 2009. She also enjoyed baking and knitting. She donated many of her knitted items to her church and baby bonnets to Middlesex Memorial Hospital's nursery.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 26, at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church Street, Guilford. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at the Guilford Funeral Home. Burial will follow immediately at the North Guilford Cemetery, 159 Ledge Hill Road, North Guilford.
