Cornelius Bernard “Neal” McCrudden


Cornelius Bernard “Neal” McCrudden died peacefully on Nov. 23, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Ethel Fleury McCrudden, who predeceased him in 2018. They enjoyed 65 years of marriage together. Neal was born on Sept. 28, 1926, in Providence, Rhode Island, to the late Bernard and Margaret (Daly) McCrudden.

He served in the Navy in World War II as a Navy Medic and returned home to graduate from Rhode Island College of Pharmacy. He was a Registered Pharmacist and owned and operated Lakes Drug Store in Old Greenwich for many years before retiring to Old Saybrook.

He was a regular communicant at St. John Church in Old Saybrook and was a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. In recent years, he enjoyed meeting with his group of friends at Starbucks.

He was predeceased by his five older sisters, Marguerite McKay, Elizabeth Schofield, Kathleen Coyle, Bernadine Furfey, and Mary Broome. He is survived by his three daughters, Debora Iannaccone (William), Margaret Gallagher (Peter) and Tracy Labieniec (William); nine grandchildren, Anthony Iannaccone (Jessica), Pamela Burriesci (Nicholas), Margaret Gallagher, Timothy Gallagher (Janine), Andrew Gallagher (Catherine), Jack Gallagher, Patrick Alexander, Whitney Alexander and Ryan Alexander (Cecilia); and three great-grandchildren, Keegan and Adalyn Gallagher and Ari Alexander, all of whom he was very proud. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
