Carolyn Paul

Carolyn A. (Roberts) Paul, 75, of Southington and former longtime Branford resident, passed away peacefully on Jan. 9, 2024, at Southington Care Center. She was the beloved wife of the late James A. Paul Sr. for 44 years. Carolyn was born on May 28, 1948, in Danbury, to the late Ernie Roberts, who died just one day after her, and the late Annabelle (VanWagner) Roberts.

Carolyn spent most of her life in the Short Beach section of Branford and worked as a nurse for over 25 years at Bentley Gardens Health Center in West Haven. Carolyn loved being a nurse and cared deeply for many people throughout her career. She loved music, especially Elvis and all sorts of country. She was an avid collector of all things and enjoyed crafting, puzzlebooks, watching her favorite TV shows, and visiting Walt Disney World with her family. Above all else, Carolyn was kind and caring and centered her life around the love she had for her family, especially her adored grandchildren.

Carolyn is survived by her son James A. Paul Jr. and his wife Ellen and three grandchildren, Alissa, Amy, and Matthew, all of Southington. She also leaves behind two sisters, Anne Roberts of Gainesville, Florida, and Barbara Skaggs of Helena, Montana; one brother-in-law, Wilfred Pinette; her best friends, Janice and Tom Thiede; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her husband, James Sr., she was predeceased by her brother, Howard Roberts, and sister, Shirley Pinette.

Carolyn’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at Southington Care Center, especially on the second floor, for their kindness, compassion, and the excellent care they provided for her.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Carolyn’s memory may be made to Southington Care Center, Tribute Gifts, 45 Meriden Ave., Southington, CT 06489.
