Michael Allen Finkeldey

Michael Allen Finkeldey, “Mikey Fink,” 63, of Westbrook died unexpectedly on Sept. 29. He was born in Hartford on Feb. 21, 1960. He was the beloved son of Robert and (the late) Mudite Finkeldey.

He graduated from Westbrook High School in 1978. He owned and operated Finkeldey’s BMJ where he worked side-by-side with his family Bonnie and Jeremy. His greatest pride and true love was his son Jeremy. Michael was truly one of the good guys. He was a man who loved life, whether on his boss-hoss motorcycle, his boat, or driving a race car. He loved to visit local watering holes and meet new people. Anytime you saw Michael, he had that wonderful smile on his face, and a contagious laugh. He was the most hardworking, dedicated, generous man who lived by the motto, “work hard, play hard.”

He leaves his wife Bonnie and son Jeremy; his brother Bobby (Kristen) Finkeldey of Westbrook; John Finkeldey of Essex; and sister Melanie Finkeldey of Woodstock; along with many lifelong friends.

In lieu of flowers, please do a random act of kindness in his memory. Buy someone a drink or cup of coffee. He would like that. Calling hours were on Oct. 14 at Swan’s Funeral home in Clinton. A Celebration of life will take place from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 5, at the Westbrook Elks.
