Marie Josephine (Bertier) Perrotti


Marie Josephine “Jo” (Bertier) Perrotti, 99, widow of Frederick T. Perrotti of Clinton, passed away Oct. 19 at home with her family by her side.

Jo was born Feb. 5, 1924, in New Haven, to the late Peter and late Anna (DeAngelis)Bertier. She resided in New Haven prior to moving to Clinton with Fred, and their children in 1966.

She attended and graduated from Commercial High School. Jo was employed by Retail Credit Company which she retired from in 1979. She was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist in New Haven, St. Mary Church of the Visitation in Clinton, and St. Mark Catholic Church in Westbrook.

Jo was a devoted wife and mother who cherished time spent with family. A lighthearted and generous lady who was loved by so many, she had a loving and gentle nature with a terrific sense of humor and quick wit. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, reading, watching classic movies, crossword and word search puzzles. She was intelligent and loved a friendly debate. She loved children and always included them in conversations with adults.

She is survived by and will be dearly missed by her daughter Dianne Perrotti; son David Perrotti and his wife Shannon (Murphy); grandchildren, Juliana Morin (Matt), Mari Pietraszuk, Christopher Perrotti and his girlfriend Jane Lewtan; great-granddaughters, Gia “Badia” Waite who added so much joy to her life, Gabriella, Maralyn Christie who she considered a daughter; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Frederick R. Perrotti and his partner John Pitts; brothers, Nicholas (Rae), Peter, Lester (Florence), Louis (Marie), Patrick (Bette); and sisters, Fay Massaro, Christine (Frank) Carlona, Mel (Fred) Goodwin, and Teresa Bartolotta.

Jo’s family would like to express their deep gratitude to The Madison House and Middlesex Health Hospice Care for their wonderful care given to her.

Funeral services were on Oct. 24 at the Swan Funeral Home in Old Saybrook, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. John Catholic Church. Burial followed at the Resurrection Cemetery in Westbrook. Memorial donations in Jo’s memory may be made to The Madison House in Madison and Middlesex Health Hospice Care in Middletown.
