Dorothy E. (Geboski) Dayett


Dorothy E. (Geboski) Dayett, 90, of Deep River, passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 10. She was born in Hartford on July 5, 1933, the daughter of Walter and Helen (Solkowski) Geboski.

Dorothy grew up in Wilson and met Larry in 1955 at a dance, and they married in 1956. They moved to Deep River in 1959, where Dorothy was a homemaker and helped raise their three children. Dorothy was active in her community. She was active in volunteering at the schools, was a member of the Historical Society, The Garden Club, and was a member of the St. Joseph Church and served on the Ladies Guild to organize and promote fundraising projects. In her earlier years, Dorothy enjoyed going out with her friends; she was very sociable and enjoyed dancing. Dorothy and Larry loved to dance with other couples. Dorothy and Larry were very proud of their son’s baseball career and traveled all over supporting him.

Dorothy leaves her daughters, Karen Piazza (predeceased daughter-in-law Nan Tooker) of New Sharon, Maine, Darlene Pollock (Dave) of Deep River; and son Brian Dayett (Christine) of Winchester, Tennessee; her grandson David L. Pollock of Deep River; and two granddaughters, Kris Pollock (Bob Blair) of Chester, Nicole Pollock (Sam Cooper) of Chester; her grandsons, Chase and Garrett Dayett of Tennessee; and her three great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Burt and Mabel of Chester.

Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved husband, Lawrence N. Dayett, and her only sibling, Edna Cirillo (Tony).

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2023, in the Fountain Hill Cemetery located at 57 High Street in Deep River.
