Lucille Ann (Valenti) Festa


On Sept. 15, Lucille Ann (Valenti) Festa, 83, a longtime resident of Guilford, passed away at CT Hospice, Branford. She is survived by her devoted husband, Anthony Festa, whom she was married to for over 62 years. Lucille was born in Stamford on Sept. 7, 1940, the daughter of the late John Valenti and Vera (Journalist) Valenti. She is also survived by her loving daughters, Marci Ann Festa of Branford and Denise Winne of Ridgefield. She is survived by her grandchildren, Adam Winne and Brendan Winne, and her sister, Carol Valenti of Minnetonka, Minnesota. She is also survived by her late grandchildren, Christian Festa and his late little brother Wyatt Frantz.

Lucille is a 1958 graduate of Darien High School, where she grew up. She went to Bryant College. She raised her family in Westport, spending almost two decades there involved in civic and Catholic charities. Lucille was an active member of Assumption Catholic Church, where she dedicated many loving hours volunteering and in fellowship with many dear friends.

In the early 1980s, Lucille moved to Branford and shortly thereafter to Guilford, where she joined St. George Parish. She worked at V.F. McNeil Insurance as an administrative assistant. Lucille volunteered at CT Hospice and at St. George Catholic Church, where she and her husband were active members. Whenever there was a need, Lucille would step in to help. Lucille was known for her loving and gentle heart. This love extended to all her friends and family. She was well-loved and loved all those around her deeply. Her profound faith sustained her throughout her life. She was devoted to her husband and had immense pride and love for her children and grandchildren. She was a woman of style and grace who will be infinitely missed.

Friends and family were invited to a Mass of Christian burial that was celebrated on Sept. 21 at St. George Church, 33 Whitfield Street, Guilford. Burial followed in Alder Brook Cemetery, 375 Boston Street, Guilford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pearl S.
