Barbara Boucher


Barbara (Domek) Boucher, 71, of East Haven, passed away Sept. 15 at Yale New Haven Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born Sept. 30, 1951, in New Haven, to Stanley and Norma (Ivins) Domek. Barbara is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 51 years, Gerald Boucher, and their son Andre Boucher (Karri) of Branford, along with four grandchildren she adored: Emma Boucher, Abby Boucher, Bryn Boucher, and Hollis Boucher. She is also survived by her sister Ann Reilly (Luke) of Torrington; two brothers, Stanley M. Domek (Kathy) of West Haven and Edward Domek (Donna) of New Haven; stepsister Dawn Wirtz (Kenneth) of Cheshire; and a stepbrother, Donald McMillan, of West Haven; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Paul Domek.

Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who loved to read, cook, camp, and play bingo at the casino. She started her career as a LPN with the former Bentley Gardens in West Haven, now Regal Care, and finished with over 45 years of service. During her career, she was awarded the prestigious Florence Nightingale Award.

Family received friends on Sept. 20 in the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home & Cremation Service (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Sept. 21 in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at the Church of St. Vincent de Paul, 80 Taylor Ave., East Haven, with Committal to follow at East Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959, in memory of Barbara Boucher.
