With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to a great man whose presence graced our lives with warmth, wisdom, and boundless love. Tod Carter Raynor, born on Jan. 13, 1960, embarked on his eternal journey on Aug. 15, 2023, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever illuminate our hearts.

Tod was a beacon of light to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His genuine kindness and unwavering compassion left an indelible mark on the lives he touched. A man of extraordinary character, Tod’s infectious laughter and zest for life radiated joy to those fortunate enough to share his company. A dedicated family man, Tod’s devotion to his loved ones was immeasurable. He cherished every moment spent with his father Preston Raynor, siblings Meredith, Allison, and Seth (Angela), niece Jacqueline (Hayden Quinn), nephew Nathaniel, and his beloved fiancée Christine and her daughters, Caroline and Nicolette. Tod is predeceased by his mother, Audrey Raynor. His legacy of unity, understanding, and support will continue to guide his family through life’s journey.

Tod’s adventurous spirit extended to the open waters, where he found solace and exhilaration in the art of sailing. His love for boats and the sea was an integral part of his identity, shaping his character with a deep appreciation for nature’s grandeur. One of his most remarkable achievements was his participation in the prestigious America’s Cup, where he showcased his remarkable skill and passion for sailing. Guided by the wind and fueled by his determination, Tod’s presence on the water was a testament to his unwavering commitment to excellence. The America’s Cup became a canvas upon which he painted a story of resilience, teamwork and the pursuit of greatness, leaving an undeniable mark on the world of sailing that will continue to inspire enthusiasts for generations to come. He recently sailed The Hook Race on Lake Michigan aboard “Medicine Man,” skippered by Rick Hennig, in which they placed first. Two weeks ago, he returned from a sailing competition, the Chicago Yacht Club Race, on Mackinac Island in Michigan. As the waves carry his memory forward, Tod’s affinity for the sea will forever remind us to embrace life’s challenges with the same grace and fortitude he exemplified on the open sea.

Though Tod is no longer with us, his spirit will forever reside within our hearts. As we mourn his physical absence, we celebrate a life well-lived and a legacy that will continue to inspire us. Tod’s memory will forever remind us to embrace each day with the same boundless enthusiasm, compassion, and love that he so effortlessly shared.

A celebration of Tod’s life will be held at a later date, where friends and loved ones can come together to honor his memory and share stories of the remarkable man he was.
