08/11/2023 05:57 AMD. Scott Kenerson passed away surrounded by his loving family on July 28, 2023, at the age of 75. Scott was born in Ithaca, New York, on Jan. 1, 1948. He was the loving son of the late Donald S. Kenerson and Clarmarie “Polly” (Sullivan) Kenerson.
Scott is survived by his daughter, Wendy (Kenerson) Fillmore of Coventry; his son, D. Scott Kenerson III of Wallingford; his son-in-law, Shawn Fillmore; and his granddaughter, Emma. He is also survived by his sister Ann (Kenerson) Stevens; his brothers, Daniel Kenerson, Douglas Kenerson, Kevin Kenerson, and David Kenerson; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was a 1966 graduate of Charles O. Dickerson High School in Trumansburg, New York. Scott went on to attend Corning Community College and then to the State University of New York at Oswego. Scott worked his way through college by working two or three jobs every summer, including delivering milk and at the drive-in movie theater. After graduating from college, Scott went on to serve his nation as a United States Postal Inspector from August 1971 until retiring in January 2002. During his career, he assisted in the UNABOM case.
Scott met the love of his life, H. Kathleen (Parrish) Kenerson, at a golf course when they were kids. They were high school sweethearts and married in 1972. Together they raised their two wonderful children, Wendy and Scott. They lived in Clinton for over 30 years. Scott’s wife, Kathy, preceded him into the presence of their Lord and Savior in September 2020.
After retiring, Scott kept busy serving others by volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, Meals On Wheels, and, most importantly, in his church. What Scott enjoyed most in life was his family and especially his granddaughter Emma! He cherished every moment with her, even to his last day on Earth when he joined his bride in Eternal Heaven.
A memorial Mass will be held beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, at St. Mary’s Church of the Visitation in Clinton. A celebration of Scott’s life will immediately follow in the church hall. There will be a private committal.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in his memory be made to St. Mary’s Church of the Visitation in Clinton, CT, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK), or to a charity of your choosing.
