08/03/2023 11:42 AMGennaro “Butch” Germe, 80, of East Haven, passed away July 27 at the St. Raphael Campus of Yale New Haven Hospital. He was born May 19, 1943, to Frank and Bettina “Betty” (Morgillo) Germe.
Butch is survived by his son Walter Joseph Germe (companion Brenda) of New Haven; and a daughter Tina Maturo of East Haven. He is also survived by his four siblings: Frank Germe (Joanne) of Hamden, Joanne DeCato (Art) of Branford, Anthony Germe (Angela) of New Haven, and Nunzio “Chuck” Germe of Branford, along with grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Gennaro is preceded in death by his parents; son Gennaro Michael Germe Jr.; granddaughter Kayla; and an infant sister Marie Elaine Germe.
Butch was an avid sports fan; he enjoyed watching the NY Yankees, NY Giants, and UConn women’s basketball team. He was a gentle man who loved being around his family and friends and listening to music.
Family received friends on Aug. 1 in the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Avenue, East Haven. Burial will be private.
