Gilbert Arthur Worrell


Tuesday, July 11, 2023, Gilbert Arthur “Gil” Worrell, 79, a longtime resident of Killingworth, passed away at Autumn Lake Nursing Center in New Britain. He was the husband of the late Louise “Lulu” (Dangelo) Worrell. Gil was born in New Haven on Aug. 12, 1943, the son of the late Edward Worrell and Pearl (Hill) Worrell. He was predeceased by their only son Jeremy A. Worrell. He is survived by his sisters, Paulina (Michael) Katz of Branford and Anna Allen of Clinton. He was also predeceased by siblings Barbara McNeely, Earl, and Joe Worrell. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; and a son like Norbie, along with his wife’s extended family: Marie (Richard) Walston, Kim (Jeremy) Kezer, and brother Andrew (Linda) Dangelo; three nieces; three nephews; four great-nieces; and four great-nephews; life-long friends Tim and Eileen Gannon, Jen, Sarah, Jill, and many wonderful friends; and his beloved dog Hunter.

Gil proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Before retirement, he had worked for Tuxis Lumber in Madison for many years. Gil was full of life. He and his Lulu lived in Durham prior to building their forever home in Killingworth. Together they both enjoyed showing their Irish setters in conformation dog shows. They frequently visited Crested Butte, Colorado, to spend time with their son and friends hiking the mountains and enjoying the wildflowers. Charlestown Beach in Rhode Island was a special family place over the years and in their retirement. They enjoyed spending time walking the dog, reading books, and enjoying the sights and sounds of the ocean.
