05/11/2023 02:17 PMEdwin E. Benton, 95, of Guilford, died May 5, 2023. He was the father of Kathryn Benton of Killingworth, Jennifer Benton Ruiz of Killingworth, Laura Waugaman of Park City, Utah, Elliot Benton of Guilford, Kasha Benton of Alabama, and was recently reunited with his daughter, Susan Skerritt of Brooklyn, New York. He is also survived by five grandchildren.
He was born June 20, 1927, in the family farmhouse in Sachem’s Head, where he has resided his entire life.
He had a successful construction company, Edwin E. Benton Builders. He was very active with the Guilford Land Trust and the Shoreline Unitarian Universalist Society in Madison.
Funeral services were held on May 8, at the First Congregational Church, Guilford, followed by interment in Alder Brook Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Guilford Land Conservation Trust, PO Box 200, Guilford. The Hawley Lincoln Memorial, 1315 Boston Post Road, Guilford, is in charge of arrangements.
