Robert Stephen DeGoursey Sr.

Robert Stephen DeGoursey Sr., “Bob D,” 77, of Clinton, passed away at Yale New Haven Hospital on April 4 after a brief illness. He was the devoted and loving husband of 43 years to Noreen Aguzzi DeGoursey. Bob was born in New Haven on Dec. 28, 1945, to the late John DeGoursey and Ann Squeglia DeGoursey Wiel.

Bob was a sergeant in the National Guard during the Vietnam War. He was self-employed for most of his life in the sales and installation of flooring, a trade he learned from his father.

Bob was a caring father to his sons, Robert Jr. (Kaley) DeGoursey and Darren (Nicole) DeGoursey. He was the proud grandfather of Ruby DeGoursey. He also leaves behind his special niece Alyssa Morrisette. He will be missed by his cat Murray. Bob is survived by his two sisters, Linda (David) Parsell and Valerie Wiel (Greg) Wilkins. He was predeceased by two brothers, John (Jo-Ann) DeGoursey and William DeGoursey. His faithful dog, Lucy, also predeceased him. He leaves many cousins to mourn his loss.

Bob worked hard his whole life. He loved nothing more than to be outdoors, tending to his garden and working tirelessly on his property, much to the chagrin of his neighbors. He was a lifelong New York Yankees fan. Bob was a man of faith and believed in the power of prayer. His family would like to thank Yale New Haven Hospital Cardiac Intensive Care Unit 5-1. The nurses and doctors took such special care of Bob in his final days. Special thanks to Dr. Miller. They are an incredible team of dedicated professionals.
