Anthony J. DeLorenzo

Anthony J. DeLorenzo, 83, Westbrook, passed away peacefully on Aug. 24, 2022, surrounded by his family, after a long struggle with kidney disease.

Tony was born on Jan. 12, 1939; he was the son of the late Anthony and Alice (Wells) DeLorenzo in Bristol. He attended St. Anthony’s schools and served in the United States Air Force, honorably discharged in 1960. Upon leaving the service, Tony was employed by General Motors, New Departure Division in Bristol. Upon his retirement, he was able to spend more time in the original Glassworks Stained Glass in Burlington, making new and restoring old stained glass windows, both residential and churches throughout Connecticut and Massachusetts. Once moving to Westbrook, he still continued making and restoring stained glass windows whenever needed; he began working with wood, making whirly gigs and birdhouses, for which he received many awards and blue ribbons. Tony also enjoyed fishing and boating but, most of all, enjoyed spending weekends visiting yard sales with his brother-in-law, John. Tony also enjoyed traveling to Maine, Florida, and Tennessee, stopping at every yard sale that he saw along the way.

Tony is survived by his wife, Mary Anne (Folcik), and their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Tony always felt his greatest accomplishment was their children, Deann (Mark), Jeff, Gregg, and daughter-in-law, Stacy. He also loved and enjoyed his grandchildren, Alison (Randy), Sarah (Jake), Jennifer, Anthony, Emily, and Patrick. He especially enjoyed spending many hours with Anthony, discussing and doing many boat and car projects and Emily’s precious interviews, always talking about himself. His great-granddaughters, Raelynn and Addison, were also very special, especially his endless Facetime puppet shows and conversations with Raelynn. He is also survived by his brother, Mark and Cyndie; his sister-in-law, Joan; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Bryan; and his brother-in-law, John.

The family wishes to thank all of Tony’s physicians associated with Yale New Haven, the complete staff at New Haven Dialysis, and the nurses at Hartford Health for all their care and support.

In keeping with Tony’s wishes, a Celebration of Life will be in late spring/early summer 2023.
