Roderick A. Latta

An independent, athletic man until the end, Roderick A. Latta passed away on Feb. 18 at 92 and 11 months of age. Rod was a devoted husband who never left his wife’s side through 10 years of Alzheimer’s. He was also a devoted father to three children, Gregory, Michelle, and Marjorie. He is survived by his children, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Having lived an extremely accomplished life, Rod was an avid runner and completed 10 marathons, five after the age of 50. He was a classical pianist and played until the day he died. A true naturalist, Rod always had an amazing garden, and his family enjoyed the fresh veggies year-round. He also named the trees in his yard, always valuing animals and nature.

Rod was an intellectual. He achieved three college degrees; a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Duke University, a bachelor’s in foreign service from Georgetown University, and an MBA from Pace University. He worked at IBM for decades.

He was a veteran of the Air Force and was always grateful to the men and women who serve our country.

Mostly, he was a strong yet sensitive personality which his children will miss with all of their hearts. We love you, Dad.

Please give to the Audubon Society of Connecticut in his honor. He loved birds.
