Sylvia Anne Vivien Price

Sylvia Anne Vivien Price, 81, born April 11, 1941, in Wells, Somerset, England, daughter of the late Mr. Vivien Roland Jenkyns and Mrs. Annie (Sutherland) Jenkyns, passed away peacefully at Chesterfields Nursing Center in Chester on Feb. 17.

Sylvia was the loving wife of the late Brian Price; the mother of Adrian Price and his wife Jolene of Guilford and Richard Price and his wife Julie of Madison; and adoring grandmother to Spencer, Alexandra, Austin, and Simon. Also survived by a former daughter-in-law Julia Price of East Haven.

Sylvia was a hairdresser in England before marrying Brian. She, Brian, and their two kids emigrated to the USA in 1967, where she held various office jobs and then opened up a Dog Grooming business in Guilford during the late 70s. Sylvia’s true loves were of the four-legged kind. Most recently, her German Shepard, Miya, and previously her cat of 22 years, Misty.

She was a perpetual student of natural remedies and all things wholistic in nature. She loved the finer things in life, especially all things sweet, like English chocolates, shortbread, and fine desserts. She took great pains to find “the perfect gifts” for her husband, kids, and grandchildren, always exquisitely wrapped and presented.

Over the years, she always remained in touch with her childhood school friends from England, specifically Valerie and Cynthia, among others. She cherished all her friendships, including her stateside BFF, Betty.

The Price family wishes to thank Bill Kinnare and Renee Gonzalez, both of Madison, who kept in close contact and helped Sylvia in many ways.

No services are planned stateside. She will be brought “home” to England by her son, Adrian, to her final resting place. In lieu of gifts or flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to the ASPCA to honor her love of animals; Box 96929, Washington, DC 20090-6929 https://www.aspca.org.
