Janet Jackson

Janet Jackson of Branford passed away peacefully at home on Feb. 11. Janet was a devoted wife and loving mother. She is survived by her husband, Donald Edward Jackson of Branford; her children, Dawn J. (Stanley) Stopka, Donald E. (Patricia) Jackson, Jr., Gayle J. (Blair) MacLachlan; her grandchildren, Rachel Stopka, Natalie Stopka, Carly Jackson, Matthew MacLachlan, Katelyn MacLachlan; and her great-grandchild, Zana Stopka.

Janet had a lifelong love and extensive knowledge of horticulture and was a member of the Branford Garden Club since 1965 and a life member of the National Council of State Garden Clubs and Federated Garden Clubs of CT. She had a passion for floral design and was a master flower show judge, and while she was able, she hardly ever missed helping at a CT Flower Show. To say she loved flowers, plants, and gardening would be an understatement.

Janet was a member of the First Congregational Church in Branford, where she was once a deaconess and very involved in the Christmas Fairs held there. She also spent many joyful times sailing, swimming, and vacationing with her husband, family, and friends. Often, she could be found at the Branford Yacht Club for events, activities, or lunch. She loved playing cards, bridge, board games, and mahjong and was an avid reader. Janet claimed she lived a long and happy life. She will be missed.

Services and burial will be private. The W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St., Branford, is in care of arrangements. Please see her online memorial @ www.wsclancy.com.
