Philip Fischer

Philip Fischer of Branford died on Feb. 5 at his home after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was the beloved husband of Sandra DaRoss Fischer. Philip was born Feb. 21, 1938, in New York City, the son of the late Philip and Marion Newell Fischer.

He attended Brooklyn Technical High School, followed by Queens College and Columbia University, from which he graduated as a civil engineer. His career path took him from M. W. Kellogg, where he worked designing oil refineries, to the construction industry working on numerous projects in the City of New York and Connecticut.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Eugene Fischer of Madison, Nicholas (Lynn) Fischer of Stony Creek, Tina Fischer (Douglas Polaner) of Katonah, New York, and Philip Fischer (Kenneth Karp) of Ridgefield; his grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Kyle Fischer, Emily Scales, Eric Fischer, Mason and Tucker Polaner; his great-grandchildren, Annabelle, William, and Jack Scales; his brother Robert (Matilde) Fischer of Greenville, South Carolina; and his sister, Marilyn Venuti of Manorville, New York. He was predeceased by his daughter Christina Fischer and his sister, Virginia Fischer.

Relatives and friends may attend a visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford, and are invited to a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, in St. John Bosco Parish at St. Therese Church, 105 Leetes Island Road, Branford.
