Mary Jane Kimball


Mary Jane Kimball, of Branford, died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2023, in New Haven. She was the wife of the late Philip Joseph Wieler. Mary Jane was born in Bridgeport on May 29, 1934, the daughter of the late Francis Eugene Callahan and Mary Grace Arnold. She is survived by her children, Philip Francis Wieler (Laini Andrews) and Martha Wieler (Tiffany Davis), both of Branford; her granddaughter Courtney Barnes of New Haven; and her great-grandson, Otto Dupree of New Haven. She was predeceased by her daughter Catherine Wieler Barnes.

Mary Jane was raised in Bridgeport. She was a 1952 graduate of Laurelton Hall and a 1956 graduate of Connecticut College. She earned her master’s in education from the University of Bridgeport. She taught third grade before leaving the workforce to raise her children. After the death of her husband, Philip, in 1972, she and her family moved to Branford, where she lived for the remainder of her life. She worked as a realtor on the shoreline for many years, last working for Weichert before she retired. She was an avid golfer and a 40-year member of the Pine Orchard Yacht and Country Club. She loved to travel and spend time with her friends and family.

Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford, and may attend her Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10, in St. John Bosco Parish at St. Therese Church, 105 Leetes Island Road, Branford.
