Chris R. Lennox


Chris R. Lennox, 62, of Niantic, passed away on Jan. 12 at home after an illness.

He was born Sept. 30, 1960, the son of Roderick and Lois (Anderson) Lennox of Clinton.

He graduated from Morgan High School in Clinton in 1978 and served in the U.S. Navy. A marine fabricator specializing in custom boat covers, he was the owner and operator of CT River Canvas in Deep River.

Chris was active in the Southeastern Connecticut music scene for several decades, where he was a regular participant in open mics and music jams. For the past four years, he was the lead singer and harmonica player for The Night Shakers blues band, playing shows in some of the better blues and music venues in Eastern Connecticut and Rhode Island. He was known for his gentle, easy-going manner and his earthy, soulful voice.

He is survived by two sons, Adam Lennox and Lucas Lennox, both of Florida; a daughter-in-law, Marie Lennox of Florida; two brothers, Clifford Lennox of North Carolina and Craig Lennox of Deep River.

A memorial service, featuring remembrances by family and friends and music by some of his fellow musicians, was held on Jan. 28, in Westbrook.
