Myrtle Francis Johnson Mislick


Myrtle Francis “Myrt” Johnson was born on Oct. 30, 1934, in New London, to Florence Pendleton Johnson and Edgar Julius Johnson. Myrt married the love of her life, John V. Mislick, on Jan. 15, 1955, and just celebrated their 68th anniversary, sharing a special love and friendship. They lived in Deep River for 67 years, raising their family. Myrt’s passions in life were her family, cooking, playing her organ, and crocheting. She truly loved life and found the good in everyone.

Myrt is survived by her daughters, Flo Zaremba (Richard) of Deep River and Diana Bedell of Chester; daughter-in-law Denise Mislick of Deep River; grandsons, Derek Zaremba (Michelle) of Haddam, Joshua Mislick (Jennifer) of Deep River, and Cory Mislick of Deep River; granddaughters, Danielle Mislick (Bradley) of East Haven, Liza Krider (Howard) of Preston, Carley Bedell of Willimantic; five great-grandchildren, Isabella, Kash, Madelyn, Torren and Brynden; sisters, Hazel Lane of Westbrook, Lois Vincelette (Grayson) of Portland, Sharon Brown of Clinton; brothers, Harold Johnson (Renee) of Clinton, William Clark of Florida, John Clark (Carrie) of Clinton; and many nieces and nephews.

Myrt was predeceased by her son John V. Mislick Jr.; sister Louise vonSternberg; brothers George Johnson, Donald Johnson, Charles Johnson, and Frederick Clark.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 31, 2023, at the Deep River Congregation Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Deep River Ambulance Association, P.O.
