Alfred Frank Raucci, Jr.


Alfred Frank “Fred” Raucci Jr., age 83, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away on Dec. 25. Fred was born on Sept. 12, 1939, in New Haven, and lived most of his life along the Connecticut Shoreline until 2012, when he moved South. He was the son of the late Alfred Frank Raucci Sr. and Dorothy Cordone Raucci.

Fred was a devout Catholic and became very involved in the church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He established Perpetual Adoration at St. Marks in Westbrook, where he was also a Eucharist minister. He was a faithful member of St. Clement’s Catholic Church in Calhoun, Georgia. He worked as an agent at the Knights of Columbus in New Haven, and later owned and operated Lapel Pin Works.

Fred enjoyed playing guitar and sang at a number of churches and events. His favorite hobby was creating pen and ink drawings.

Fred is survived by his wife Sandra “Sandy” Phillips Raucci; two sons, Alfred F. “Fred” Raucci III and his wife Katie and Andrew J. Raucci; three stepsons, Dale Robinson and his wife Jill, Brian Robinson and his wife Debi, and John Robinson and his wife JoAnn; one stepdaughter, Lori Underwood, and her husband Jack; one brother, Robert Rossi, and his wife Stephanie; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at the St. Clement’s Catholic Church. Services will conclude at 3 p.m. at the Georgia National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Fred may be made to the American Cancer Society.
