Donald M. Warren, Jr.


Donald M. Warren, Jr, 75, a longtime resident of Guilford, passed away in Branford, surrounded by his loving family, on Dec. 11.

Husband of the late Martha Anne (Gesner) Warren. Mr. Warren was born in Providence, Rhode Island on Aug. 2, 1947, son of the late Donald Warren Sr. and Winifred (McManus) Warren, and predeceased by his brother Martin Warren. Loving father of Christina McCool and her husband Timothy of Branford and his grandpups Maggie and Charlie. He is also survived by a cousin Joan McDonald of Providence, Rhode Island along with his loving extended family and his many friends.

Mr. Warren is a graduate of the University of New Haven. He graduated in the top 30 percent of his class from the police academy and was immediately hired by the town of Old Saybrook as a patrol officer. During his career, he had been promoted to detective and worked undercover along with federal agents. Donald was awarded multiple citations for his exemplary police work. Throughout his career, he continued his education in various areas of law enforcement, which included attending the FBI academy. During his career, he was promoted to Sergeant, the position from which he retired from.

In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with family and his beloved dog, Molly. His favorite pastimes were cooking, reading, and his yearly trips to Vermont with friends.

Friends are invited to calling hours from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, Dec. 30 at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St, Guilford, followed immediately by a prayer service at noon. Burial will take place in Westside Cemetery, Race Hill Rd, Madison.
