Yvonne R. Haynes

Yvonne R. Haynes, 93, passed away on Oct. 26 at Essex Meadows of natural causes. She was surrounded by loving family members who comforted her. Yvonne was born in Wilmington, Ohio, and was married to Phillip Haynes (predeceased), also from Wilmington, for 55 years. The couple moved to Simsbury, where they raised three sons.

Yvonne established a very successful interior decorating business which she expanded when they moved full time to their summer home in Essex in 1985. Yvonne became a pillar of the community in Essex, and was a trustee of the Essex River Museum, and a fundraiser for the Essex Library and other civic causes raising substantial contributions.

Yvonne is survived by her three sons, Matthew (Suzanne), children Sarah (Chris), Bradley (Sandy), Mason, and Hanne; Douglas (Susan), children, Bennett (Mary Adare), Emily (Nicolas), and Phillip; and Steven (Gerrilin), Steven (Tracy) and John; and six great-grandchildren: Hadley, Christopher, Dylan, Madison, Caroline, and Colleen, all for whom she was so proud.

Yvonne was an avid tennis and paddle tennis player, a dog lover and loved to host friends and family, and was the life of the party.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her name to the Essex River Museum would be greatly appreciated. To share a memory of Yvonne or to leave a condolence for her family, please visit www.rwwfh.com. All services were privately held by the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, Centerbrook.
