Grace Diane Argento


Grace Diane (DeLucia) Argento, 93, of East Haven, passed away Oct. 8 at Connecticut Hospice. She was born May 4, 1929 in New Haven to Joseph and Susan (Aiello) Delucia.

She leaves behind her loving children, David (Erin) Argento, Barbara (Don) Waterfield and John Argento with whom she shared a home and who unselfishly, and with the greatest love, cared for his mother enabling her to maintain as much independence as possible as she aged. She is also survived by her grandchildren Michael, Elizabeth, and Christopher Argento; Mark (Kaitlin) Waterfield, and Allison (Evan) Frigon; great-grandchildren Grace, Jacob, and Jeremy Waterfield; Jackson and Macie Frigon; along with two step-granddaughters, Holly Webster and Heather Baracchi; a sister, Carmela Palmieri; as well as many other cherished relatives and friends. Grace is predeceased by her devoted husband, John Argento; parents; brothers, Michael, George, and Joseph DeLucia; and sisters, Gloria Scafariello, Rosemarie Fuchs, and Louise Esposito.

Grace enjoyed working for many years in the china department at Macy’s in New Haven until the store closed and she retired. There was nothing more important to her than her family. They were her greatest joy and greatest source of comfort in difficult times. Grace was a loving and compassionate woman who loved her family, cooking Anginettes, and cheering on UConn women’s basketball and the New York Yankees.

Grace was a faithful member of St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at the Church of St. Vincent de Paul, 80 Taylor Ave., East Haven, where a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Oct. 12. Burial followed at St. Agnes Cemetery in Branford. All services were under the care of the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven.
