Stephan “Steve” Poirier


Stephan “Steve” Poirier, 74, of East Haven passed away on Aug. 16 after a long illness. Steve was born on Nov. 26, 1947 in East Haven to the late Wilfred J. and Ruby (Anderson) Poirier.

He was a talented artist and loved restoring antiques, especially Fisher Price Toys and Christmas ornaments. He inherited a passion for gardening from his mother and his gardens were well-known around the neighborhood. Before retiring, he worked for 50 years for Catapano Auto Body in New Haven as a painter. He put his artistic talents to work there by hand-painting pinstripes and other designs when needed.

He was predeceased by his loving and devoted wife Nancy (Boughton) Poirier; as well as several brothers and sisters. He is survived by his only daughter Kirstin Franzman and her husband David of East Haven, who provided much support to him in recent months; his sister Carol Wylie of Pennsylvania; and his brother Wilfred Poirier Jr. of Guilford; along with many nieces and nephews.

All services will be private and under the care of the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Connecticut Humane Society (www.cthumane.org).
