Siu Hing “Tina” Hansen


Siu Hing “Tina” Hansen, longtime resident of Clinton, passed away Aug. 19 at her home surrounded by her loving family, after battling pancreatic cancer for over six years. Beloved wife of Robert Hansen. Tina was born in Taishan, China on Sept. 18, 1949, daughter of the late Mr. Lee Dik Nam. Loving mother of Michael and his wife Joslyn, and Brian and his wife Stella.

Tina met her husband during his ship’s visit to Hong Kong during the Vietnam War. After arriving in America in 1973 to marry Robert, Tina earned her bachelor and master’s degrees from the University of New Haven, and spent her career in computer programming and information systems at First Bank, Hospital of St. Raphael, and Yale.

Tina enjoyed baking and traveling. Travel included visiting friends across the U.S., exploring Europe, and catching up with family in New York City and Hong Kong. The sons were the joy of her life, and she devoted herself to their care and education.

Tina was a member and volunteer with the American Legion Auxiliary, Shoreline Community Women, and Families Helping Families. She was a devoted Catholic and member of the St. Mary’s community.

She will be most remembered for her smile and laugh, and always saying “I love you” before waving goodbye.

Friends were invited to calling hours on Aug. 24, in St. Mary Church of the Visitation, 54 Grove St, Clinton. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary Church of the Visitation at noon. Burial followed in St. Mary Cemetery, Beach Park Rd, Clinton.
