Stephen J. Nigro, 68

Clinton

Stephen J. “Steve” Nigro, 68, of Clinton and formerly of Westbrook and Wethersfield, passed from this life unexpectedly at home on July 28.

He was the beloved husband of Karen Nigro, whom he was married to for 30 years. Steve was a kind and loving husband and Karen’s best friend.

Over the past several years Steve had the privilege of serving the Lord as an elder at Signal Church in Clinton. He was overwhelmingly blessed by his loving church family. Steve was always generous with his time, and loved helping others.

As a child, Steve’s favorite place was the family cottage in Middle Beach, Westbrook. He enjoyed long summer days with family and friends swimming and fishing.

As a young man, Steve worked for the Abbott Ball Company in West Hartford. However, it was his special gift of hospitality that led him back to Westbrook and his career at the Water’s Edge Inn and Resort and where Steve and Karen made their Shoreline home. After some years, Steve continued his career at the New Haven Hotel in downtown New Haven and the Shoreline Medical Center in Guilford.

Steve’s great passion for fishing on his boat, Reel Nice, was well known by everyone who knew him. He shared many days on the water with family and friends and was truly blessed.

Steve is also survived by brother Frank Nigro; his sister-in-law Jamie Burgess; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He loved them all deeply. His family and friends admired his persistence and patience in the face of many challenges; and we are grateful he is now at peace.

A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6 at Signal Church, 4 Heritage Park Road, Clinton.
