07/07/2022 12:00 AMJames Lewis MacKay, age 53, died unexpectedly in his home in Groton, on June 20. He is survived by his sisters, Dawn Sheridan, Susan Weglein and Carrie Bergantino; his stepfather John Looney; along with many nieces and nephews; and longtime friend Art Whitehouse. He is predeceased by his mother Bonnie Looney; and father David MacKay.
James, lovingly called Jimmy by his family, was born July 10, 1968, and would have celebrated his 54th birthday this year. He grew up in both Clinton and Westbrook graduating from Westbrook High School. Jimmy overcame many challenges in his life and continually defied expectations. Through diligence, he accomplished his goals and lived an independently successful life.
Jimmy will be remembered for his generosity, kindness and wonderful sense of humor. He was a big kid at heart and shared his love of building Legos and playing with cars with his nieces and nephews. Jimmy had an infectious laugh that could lighten the darkest mood. He will be missed by his family and friends!
In lieu of funeral services, the family has planned a Celebration of Life for Sunday, July 10. “Rest in Peace, Jimmy. You will forever be in our hearts.” www.swanfh.com
