North Haven

Marie T. Discepola Romano, 89, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on June 10 at the Central Connecticut Hospital-New Britain campus with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of 45 years to the late Joseph Romano, Sr. Marie was born in New Haven on Dec. 11, 1932, and was the daughter of the late Vincent and Lucy Paolillo Discepola.

She had worked on the assemblyline for Echlin Manufacturing for many years. Marie enjoyed reading, puzzles (especially word-search), cooking, and baking and was known as the “cookie lady” to all who knew her at the Wallingford Senior Center.

She was the loving mother of Donna (Kathleen Condon) Romano, Debra (Bernard) Young, Lucy (Thomas) Moran, Mary (Gary) Gello, and the late Joseph Romano, Jr.; grandmother of Joseph Romano III and Brian Young; and sister of Susan Capasso, Michael Discepola, Albert Discepola, Elaine Magliulo, and the late Jeanettte Turcio. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

The visiting hours were on June 13 at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Therese Church, North Haven. Interment followed in All Saints Cemetery.
