North Haven

David Sundwall, 80, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on June 9, at his home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 60 years to Sandra Tosetti Sundwall. David was born in New Haven on Feb. 6, 1942, and was the son of the late James Sundwall and Lois Wrightington Hillinski and stepson of Jane Sundwall and Adam Hillinski.

He had served his country faithfully in the U.S. Air Force during the Cuban Missile Crisis. David had worked as a truck driver for Keegan Construction of North Haven for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the American Legion Shaw-Sinon Post 73, Wallingford, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Wallingford Aerie 1820.

David had coached youth hockey and baseball in North Haven and had served as member of the North Haven Volunteer Fire Department. He was father of David M. (Robert Pragano) Sundwall, Michael (Nancy) Sundwall, Holly (Christopher DeMartin) Sundwall, and Eric (Bridget) Sundwall; grandfather of Troy Sundwall Tyler, Kameron and Christopher DeMartin, Hailey, Hunter, Annabell Sundwall and Robert (Tory) Stevens; great-grandfather of Carter Marie; and brother of James (Marilyn) Sundwall, Faith Connor, and the late Frances Green, Cynthia White, and Irene Devoss.

The visiting hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 16, in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Frances Cabrini Church, 57 Pond Hill Road, North Haven. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to CT Special Olympics, 2666 State Street #1, Hamden, CT 06517.
