Branford

James L. Tierney, Sr., of Branford died on May 31 at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Carmela Nuzzo Tierney.

Mr. Tierney was born on Feb. 6, 1936, in New Haven, son of the late John J. and Melvina Benoit Tierney. He served in the U.S. Navy. Jim worked as a Class A tool & die maker for many years, ending at Triangle Tools. He was an avid fisherman, an avid reader of history and other subjects, a lifelong member of the Railroad Enthusiasts, and a devoted family man.

Besides his wife, Jim is survived by his children James L. Tierney, Jr., of Cocoa, Florida and Barbara DuBois of Vermont; his grandchildren Jennifer Tierney and Rebecca DuBois; and his great-grandchildren Ben, Autumn, and Dominic. He was predeceased by his siblings Jack Tierney and Rosemary Gagliardi.

A memorial service was held on June 9 in the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, Branford. Burial followed in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. For his memorial, see www.wsclancy.com.
