George Edward Soule, Jr., 79, son of George and Dorothy (Berger) Soule, died May 28, 2022, in Charlottesville, Virginia, after a battle with cancer. He was born in Guilford on Oct. 10, 1942. He graduated from Daniel Hand High School in Madison. He was a member of the Future Farmers of America. After serving two years as a tank operator in the U.S. Army, he attended Chico State University in California, where he graduated with a civil engineering degree. He worked for many years at Dewberry Engineering in Mount Laurel Township, New Jersey. He lived in Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania, and wintered for many years in Gold Canyon, Arizona.

George was an avid golfer, skier, hiker and back country camper. He was a free spirit who traveled all over the world and especially enjoyed visiting our national parks. George made fast friends wherever he went, who will miss his friendly smile, helping hands and wonderful sense of humor.

He will be especially missed by his brother William Soule (wife Patricia) of Palmyra, Virginia, niece Leah Soule Amyot (husband Jacques) of Porter Corners, New York, nephews David Soule of Higganum and Daniel Soule (wife Kari) of Stanley, North Carolina, and several cousins, a great-nephew, and a great-nieces.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, at the First Congregational Church, 26 Meeting House Lane, Madison. Burial will follow at Alder Brook Cemetery in Guilford. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 10, at the Guilford Funeral Home.
