Guilford

Janet (O’Brien) Marlowe, longtime resident of Guilford, passed away on May 19 at Artis Center, Branford. Janet was born in Hartford on May 31, 1938, daughter of the late James H. O’Brien and Jean (Waters) O’Brien.

She was the loving mother of Peter Marlowe, Sr. (Jennifer) of Guilford and Cecil Marlowe (Timothy Brick) of Cleveland, Ohio and grandmother of Mollie, Anna, and Samuel Brick; Carolyn Marlowe Orser (Blake); Peter Marlowe, Jr.; and Kevin Marlowe. She was the sister of Lynn Wiese and Jane Dion (Peter). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and sister-in-law Barbara O’Brien. She was predeceased by a brother, James R. O’Brien.

Janet was a graduate of Guilford High School and Bay Path College. Before retirement, Mrs. Marlowe had worked for Clendenen and Shea Law Offices for more than 30 years. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, and spending time with family and friends. Janet was known by many for her friendly and warm personality. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy.

The Marlowe family would like to thank the staff at Artis Senior Living and Compassus Hospice Care for their care of Janet.

Friends are invited to calling hours from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 27, at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church Street, Guilford, followed by a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at Guilford Funeral Home.
