Elaine (DeRiso) Castiglione, 80, passed away peacefully on May 3 at The Regency House in Wallingford. Born in New Haven, she lived in Branford all her life. Elaine was the daughter of the late Casper “Cap” and Martha (Hubert) DeRiso of Branford.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Michael Castiglione; her sons Jason Michael Castiglione (Kristen) of West Lake, Florida, and Marc John Castiglione (Anna) of Branford; brother Martin DeRiso; and sisters Jean DeRiso and Diane (DeRiso) King (David) of Arizona. Elaine also leaves behind her beloved granddaughters Gianna Rae Castiglione and Kristina Lorenzo Bishop (James) and three great-grandchildren Rowan, Asher, and Harlow Jade Bishop.

Elaine was an active member of the local PTA while her children attended school. She was a Branford hair stylist for many years and in 1976 started a personal care business at Branford Hills Health Center from which she retired in 2008. Upon retirement, Elaine and her husband Mike spent many winters basking in the warmth of the Florida sun in Deerfield Beach, Florida.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on May 17 at St. Mary Church of St. John Bosco Parish in Branford. Her ashes were interred at St. Agnes Cemetery in Branford. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Connecticut chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. Please see her online memorial at www.wsclancy.com.
