Branford

Marguerite “Peggy” Elizabeth Wrinn of Branford passed away peacefully on May 14 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. Peggy was the loving wife of her husband of 51 years, John C. Wrinn of Branford.

Peggy’s memory will be embraced by her daughter Kira E. Lent and Kira’s husband Dan of Easton and Peggy’s son John L. Wrinn of Baltimore, Maryland, and his wife Linda. Peggy was the loving grandmother of six grandchildren: Ian, Caroline, Jack, Charles, Connor, and Piper.

Marguerite was the daughter of the late William V. and Rita Benham Joy of North Haven. She is survived by her siblings Barbara C. Joy of Hamden, Geraldine Gill of North Haven, Suzanne (John) Carroll of Guilford, William V. Joy Jr. of Dalton, Massachusetts, Michael D. Joy of Wallingford, and James C. (Gale) Joy of St. Augustine, Florida, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Carol A. Joy.

Marguerite graduated from Southern Connecticut State College and taught physical education in the Cheshire school system for a many years before starting a family. She also volunteered at numerous agencies in Branford, including the Branford Food Pantry. Spending time with her family at picnics and parties were her favorite activities in addition to her bounty of books that she enjoyed reading. In addition to her family, she is also survived by many friends and acquaintances, and she left many great recipes.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 20, at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford. Friends may call from 9:30 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial of her urn will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery in Branford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Branford Food Pantry, 30 Harrison Ave. #2, Branford, CT 06405 or to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd. Branford, CT 06405.
