North Haven

E. Richard Wilson, 80, of North Haven passed away peacefully on May 12 at home following a valiant fight with cancer, with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 29 years to Robin Wilson. Richard was born in New Haven on March 22, 1942, the son of the late Clifford E. and Emily Garde Wilson. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves.

Richard was the third-generation owner/operator of Wilson Furniture & Upholstery, founded in 1938 and Richard’s Upholstery since 2009. He was very active on many committees and commissions in the Town of North Haven.

He was the father of Monique Gibbs (Ron), Christie Gibbs, Richard G. Wilson (Tammy), and Matthew F. Wilson (Leila Pinchot); stepfather of Adam Chait (Erika) and Geoffrey Chait (Laura); grandfather of Andrew Gibbs, Emily Gibbs, Zachary Gibbs, Natalie Wilson, Alison Wilson, Richard G. Wilson, Jr., Lucinda Wilson, Emile Wilson, Colton Chait, Roberto Chait, Lawton Chait, Penny Chait, and Thalia Chait; and brother of Marjorie Wilson, Barbara Costenbader, and the late Francis “Chuck” Wilson. He was predeceased by his first wife Mary-Jane Langevin Wilson.

The visiting hours were on May 15 at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on May 16 in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Therese Church, North Haven. Interment followed in the In Memoriam Cemetery, Wallingford.
