North Haven

Minnie Piscitelli Fers, 92, of Wallingford, passed away peacefully on May 2 at Elim Park, Cheshire, with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert S. Fers. Minnie was born in New Haven on Jan. 23, 1930, the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Annunziata Piscitelli.

She was a graduate of Commercial High School, Class of 1948, business program; and was the office manager of her family business Robert S. Fers, Inc. of North Haven. Minnie was a parishioner of the Church of the Resurrection, Wallingford, and Saint Theresa’s Church, North Haven, in earlier years. She was a member of the Sons & Daughters of Italy of North Haven, the Mayflower Society, and, for many years, the Ukrainian Mr. & Mrs. Club. She volunteered at Gaylord Hospital Therapeutic Recreation alongside her daughter and best friend, Roberta.

Minnie loved the New York Yankees and UConn boys’ and girls’ basketball, enjoyed watching the NBA, and was an avid bowler. She shared her love of cooking and Italian traditions with her entire family.

She was the devoted mother of Roberta A. Fers, Mary Lou Stamp (Earl), Anne M. Fers (Robert Barker), and Robert S. Fers Jr.; cherished grandmother of Jason Stamp (Amy Harris), Douglas Stamp (Alyssa Burns), Erin Fers, Robert S. Fers III (Katie Lorentz), and Samantha Fers; loving great-grandmother of Charles, Eloise, and Finnley Stamp. She is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The visiting hours will be from 3 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10, at the Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. Family and friends are invited to go directly to Church of the Resurrection, 115 Pond Hill Road, Wallingford, at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, to attend a Mass of Christian burial. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Resurrection Building Fund at the above address and the Connecticut Community Foundation, 43 Field Street, Waterbury, CT 06702-memo “Elim Park Scholarship”.
