Branford

Maryann Amendola Imperati went in the arms of the Lord on April 17 with her loving husband at her side. She was 81 years old, born May 25, 1940, in Waterbury.

Maryann loved to play the piano and dance. As a mother, she taught piano lessons from her home. Maryann was devoted to her family and music, but also devoted to her faith. These two passions intersected when she became a choir director at St. Augustine Catholic Church in North Branford. There she taught choir, played piano, and sang for weekly Masses, weddings, and funerals for many years. After the passing of her first husband, Michael Amendola, to whom she was married for 26 years, Maryann found love again with her current husband of 30 years Michael Imperati. They moved to Port St. Lucie, Florida. Continuing to keep passionate in her faith, Maryann taught choir, sang, and played piano at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Maryann was preceded in death by her father Angelo A. Bergantino, her mother Josephine Bergantino, and her sister Elaine Dziubinski. Grieving her passing is her husband Michael Imperati. Maryann is also missed by her brother William (Stacy) Bergantino of Orange and her children Michele Amendola (Robert Campagnuolo) of Killingworth, Michael (Barbara) Amendola, Jr., of Killingworth, Marc (Jennifer) Amendola of Madison, Marisa (Glyn) Faulkner of the U.K., JoAnn (Michael) Zendan of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Laurie Brennan of Branford. She leaves 10 grandchildren: Josephine, Maxx, Gabrielle, Andrew, Michael, Phoenix, China, Jason, Melissa, and Cadence; as well as nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the Branford Hills Heath Care Center staff for the care Maryann received during the past two years.

Visitation will take place at 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 21, at the Keenan Funeral Home, North Branford. The family would like masks to be worn for visitation and church services. Condolences can be made online at keenanfuneralhome.com.
