Madison

Cynthia H. Tichy passed away on April 14. Cindy was born in Titusville, Pennsylvania, on March 22, 1948. Her parents Ruth and Maynard Hipwell and brother Murray predeceased her. She loved going fishing with her Dad.

Her husband, Ed Tichy, died in 2019. They had been married for 38 years and lived in Madison.

She is survived by two daughters, Erin Hughes and her son Spencer and Heather Migliore (Nick) and their three daughters, Tori, Taylor, and Sloane. She leaves a niece, Lee, and two nephews.

Cindy loved to grow vegetables and flowers. She did canning when the vegetable crops came in for the family to enjoy until the next season. She was active with the Guilford Fair for many years and active with Madison Little League when her girls were young. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Madison, where she helped with fundraising, volunteering at Serendipity, and teaching Sunday School. She had many happy memories during her 25-year membership. She loved watching old movies, reading, quilting, and doing cross-stitch and making baskets. Cindy and her cousin Emogene liked going to Broadway plays and shopping in New York City. She had lots of good friends who kept close over the years. When saying good-bye, pop some corn, watch your favorite movie, and know she is watching with you.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, at the American Legion Post, 43 Bradley Road, Madison. Donations in her memory can be made to Charlie’s Closet (a non-profit providing medical equipment like walkers and canes) Charlie’s Closet, 310 State St, Suite #200, Guilford, CT 06437. Arrangements are in the care of the Guilford Funeral Home. To share a memory or leave condolences, visit www.guilfordfuneralhome.com.
