North Haven

Frank L. Walters, 88, of North Haven passed away peacefully on April 16, at the Connecticut Hospice, Branford, with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 63 years to Gertrude DeGross Walter. Frank was born in New Haven on Nov. 11, 1933, the son of the late Frank and Lena Hoffman Walter.

He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Navy during the Korean war. Frank attended the former Southern Connecticut State Teachers College and later worked as a draftsman for United Technologies for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and gardening.

He was the father of Lynn Thompson (Peter), grandfather of Andrew Thompson (fiancée Lauren) and William Thompson (Sarah), brother of Barbara Welker Griggs (Thomas Griggs, Sr.), and brother-in-law of James Malerba and the late Dorothy Malerba. He was also survived by nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Barnabas Church, 44 Washington Avenue, North Haven at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 23, to attend a Mass of Christian burial. Military honors will immediately be following the Mass in front of the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, JDRF.org/donate.
