Bernard “Bernie” Diana, 80, of North Haven passed away peacefully on March 30 at Regency House, Wallingford, with his family by his side. Bernie was born in New Haven on Nov. 1, 1941, the son of the late Bernard A. and Elizabeth I. Geremia Diana.

He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Navy and later earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of New Haven. Bernie was the owner and operator of the former Strand Theatre in Hamden, the manager of West Cove Marina in West Haven, and later a commercial realtor at Levey, Miller & Maretz in Woodbridge. Dedicated to his service to his country, Bernie volunteered at many veterans’ organizations.

He was the father of Chris Diana and his wife Keri; grandfather of Nicole, Skylar, Logan, and Kaelyn; and brother of Phillip Diana, Agatha Diana, and Kathleen Diana-Reily. He is also survived by his loving companion Barbara Chock.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on April 4 St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Therese Church, North Haven, followed by interment with full military honors in All Saints Cemetery.
