Old Saybrook

Joan Ellis Weldon, of Old Saybrook passed away peacefully on April 2, surrounded by her loving children. Joan lived a full life and raised four children before embarking on a career in office products supply, giving her opportunities to fulfill her love of travel and make many new friends along the way.

Joan enjoyed many interests and hobbies. An accomplished knitter and crocheter, she also enjoyed the challenge of a good crossword puzzle. For many years, Joan was an active member of the Westbrook Elks Emblem Club, as well as The Sweet Adeline singing group. Joan adored spending time with her mother, daughters, and friends on their weekly treasure hunt to local thrift shops.

Joan will be sorely missed, not only by her surviving family members, but also her many friends with whom she shared common interests.

Joan leaves behind her eldest son Richard Tefft and wife Jan of Seaconk, Massachusetts, Holly Tefft Sepowski and her husband Stephen of Chester, and Carl Tefft and his wife Sheila of Middletown. She was predeceased by her beloved daughter Georgianne and her husband Daniel Kobylanski.

Joanne also leaves three grandchildren, James Estabrook and his wife Maryann of Clinton, David Estabrook of Hartford, and Richard Clavin of Staunton, Virginia, and two great-grandchildren, Robert and Natalie Estabrook of Clinton.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, at Cypress Hills Cemetery in Old Saybrook. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Middlesex Hospital Comfort Care Unit. For her online obituary, please visit www.swanfuneralhomeoldsaybrook.com.
