Westbrook

Harold W. “Hal” Watson, Jr., 79, of Westbrook, passed away peacefully on March 16. Born Dec. 15, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of Harold W. Watson Sr. and Helen (Zavisky) Watson.

Hal went to The Morgan School and graduated with the Class of 1960. He graduated from the University of Connecticut and received his MBA from the University of Hartford. He later went on to become the president and CEO of Cramer Company. After hanging up his suits and ties at Cramer, Hal went on to have a very successful career as a carpenter, mentoring others as well.

He married the love of his life, Marilyn (Straub) Watson in 2007. They spent 20 happy years together before he left on his next journey. Above all else, Hal found his joy spending time with his wife, many friends, and those he held close to his heart. Hal loved to travel. He spent many years sailing and island hopping. Two of his favorites were Anegada (where he and Marilyn were married) and Antigua (where he spent memorable times with his brother-in-law Mike Straub and his wife Kate).

Along with his parents, Hal is predeceased by his brother-in-law William Squier and his much-loved bichon, Emily. Hal will be greatly missed by his beloved wife Marilyn Watson as well as daughters Kristen (Jon) Pressman and Jean (Dan) Fitzgerald; grandchildren Fisher and Eleanor Pressman and Alexandra, Rachel, Autumn, and Ethan Coady; sisters Diane Squier and Donna Schaffnit; niece Dawn Barthe; and nephews Scott and Jimmy Schaffnit.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Hal’s name to your local animal shelter or the Humane Society.
