Branford

On March 22, Patricia “Patti” A. Vernon, 77, of Branford passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side.

Patti was born in New Haven on April 24, 1944, daughter of the late Anne, Louis, and Pasquale DeCaprio. Patti was the beloved wife of George Vernon for 53 years and is survived by her sons, Jeffrey G. Vernon (Amy) of Branford and Scott G. Vernon (Lindsey) of Wallingford; her granddaughters, Alexis and Siena Vernon; her siblings, Rae DeCaprio Stoddard of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, Jean DeCaprio O’Brien of Branford, and Anthony DeCaprio (Sabrina) of West Haven; and Patti’s childhood friend, Frances Laudano Rae (Daniel) of West Haven. Her beloved daughter, Anne Mildred Vernon, predeceased her.

Patti graduated from West Haven High School then worked for the United Illuminating Company and the Branford School System. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters, during their weekly dinners and game nights. She was always so proud of her children, daughters-in-law, and granddaughters. Her favorite pastimes were visiting friends, baking pies (apple was her specialty), playing cards, reading, word games and puzzles, and going to the casino.

Relatives and friends visited on March 26 at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, Branford, followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated in Our Lady of Pompeii Church of St. Pio Parish, East Haven, and interment in St. Agnes Cemetery in Branford.
