East Haven

Geraldine “Jerri” Narracci of North Haven (formerly of Hamden and East Haven) passed away peacefully on March 23 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born Aug. 29, 1935, in New Hampshire, Jerri was the daughter of Bernard and Marie Walsh Barrett and sister of Patty Smith, Joan McCann, and Billy Barrett. Jerri attended Hamden High School and Southern Connecticut State College to prepare herself for a dedicated, lifelong teaching career. She taught physical education, English, and math at numerous schools in Hamden and East Haven including St. Vincent DePaul School and Momauguin Elementary School. Jerri positively touched the lives of countless children.

Jerri was a very prominent citizen of East Haven where she and her husband Steve raised their family. She was an active member of The East Haven Women’s Club, East Haven Basketball Parents Association, The East Haven Big Blues, St. Vincent’s Home School Association, and East Haven Historical Society and an officer in Sleeping Giant Women’s Golf Association and VP of Tradition Women’s Golf Association.

Upon retirement, Jerri fell in love with the game of golf. She scored a personal best (1 over par making four birdies) and made a hole-in-one during February 2005 at Mangrove Bay Golf Course in Florida. An avid reader and incredibly creative, Jerri could do just about anything. But her passion was quilting. Her exceptional craft adorns the houses of many relatives and friends.

Jerri loved to travel the world with her husband and friends, visiting Ireland, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Czech Republic, England, and various islands in the Caribbean.

Jerri was the loving wife of Stephen Narracci for more than 60 years and beloved mother of Michael and wife Sarah of Eastham, Massachusetts, Stephen and wife Kristyn of Northford, Robert and wife Gina of New Haven and Ricky of New Haven. She will be deeply missed by grandchildren Alisyn and Jake Narracci as well as her many nieces and nephews.
