Old Saybrook

Mary Ann Kinnelly Jasensky, 83, died on Jan. 2. Mary Ann was born on May 2, 1938, in Bronx, New York to William and Helen Kinnelly. She was big sister to her adored siblings, Ellin Kinnelly Petagno and William Kinnelly, Jr. She graduated from Grasslands School of Nursing in Valhalla, New York in 1959.

Mary married her beloved husband, Frank “Fritz” Jasensky, Jr., on Feb. 27, 1960. They enjoyed 55 years of marriage until Fritz passed in May 2015. They made their home and raised their family in Greenwich and retired to Old Saybrook in 1999.

Mary is survived by her devoted daughters Patricia Mucha and her husband Jerry of Fairfield, Debora Wolfe and her husband Charles of Deep River, Penny Skulski and her husband Tom of Wallingford and her daughter-in-law Josephine (Gigi) Jasensky of Redding. She was predeceased by her only son, James Jasensky in 2014.

She was the cherished Nana to her grandchildren: Allison and Josh Habel, Matthew Wolfe and Kara Riggio, Caroline Wolfe and Danny Charles, Jonathan Skulski, Hannah Wolfe, Joseph Skulski, William Jasensky, Jennifer Skulski and Luke Krentz, Thomas Skulski, Benjamin Wolfe, and Olivia Jasensky, and her great-grandchildren: Georgia, Hazel, and Ezra Riggio Wolfe. A large extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews, in-laws, and friends also survive her and were so special to her.

Mary was a dedicated mom, Nana, and homemaker. She was happiest surrounded by those she loved, and she enjoyed throwing parties and hosting events. She was most proud of creating a happy, stable home for her family. Mary liked reading, stitching, baking, gardening, and everything Irish! She always had faith that her teams, the New York Mets, Jets, and Islanders, would prevail.

The family would like to thank the staff of Masonicare Hospice, especially Don and Fran, who were our trusted support during a difficult time.

Memorial donations may be sent to BeLikeBrit Foundation, 66 Pullman Street, Worcester, MA 01606 to support the children of Haiti, a cause near and dear to Mary’s heart.
