Guilford

Patricia L. Seekamp, 80, of Guilford passed away on Feb. 16. She was the beloved wife of William Seekamp for 59 years. She was born in Springdale, Pennsylvania on April 7, 1941, daughter of Burton and Thelma (Wills) Laird.

Patricia is survived by her husband William Seekamp and her sons Graham Seekamp and Karl Seekamp and his wife Meghan Flynn Seekamp. She is the beloved grandmother of Shane Seekamp, Dylan Seekamp, Luke Seekamp, and Kerry Seekamp; she also leaves her sister Jean Kane of Salem, Oregon, and brother Richard Crossler-Laird, also of Salem.

Patricia graduated from Bethel Park High School in 1959. She received her BFA in fashion design from Pratt Institute in 1963.

She worked as a fashion designer in New York City and in Connecticut and for many years as the shop and gallery manager at the Guilford Handcraft Center.

After retiring, she began a second career as a pastel painter. She loved painting outdoors with her friends and gardening. She was an elected member of the Lyme Art Association, the Clinton Art Society, the Connecticut Pastel Association, the Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts, the Guilford Art League, and the Paint and Clay Club of New Haven and she served as a director of the Madison Art Society. Her work won her many awards and hangs in many private collections.

A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, March 20.
