East Haven

Marie (Diglio) Bucci, 97, of East Haven, passed away on Feb. 25 at Branford Hills. She was born on July 19, 1924, in New Haven to Frank and Vincenza “Jenny” (Esposito) Diglio.

Marie is survived by her two daughters, Anita Puglisi (Frank) of Naples, Florida, and Mary-Ann Bucci of East Haven, along with three grandchildren, Frank Joseph Puglisi, Michael and wife Sabrina Puglisi, and Jeffery and wife Sarah Robertson, and three great-grandchildren, Isabella Puglisi, Brianna Puglisi, and Jeffrey John Robertson.

Marie was the last survivor of her immediate family. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Michael Bucci (1996), and four siblings, Dominic Diglio, Concetta Sacco, Edith Marotti, and James Diglio.

Marie was a parent-chaperone for the Connecticut Classics Junior Drum and Bugle Corps. She was an active member of St. Vincent de Paul Church serving as a Eucharistic minister for six years and a member of the Altar Society. She was a member of the East Haven and East Shore Senior Centers. She loved to travel and made weekly visits to the casino. Cooking for her family was what she loved most and making the holidays special is what made her special.

The family would like to extend a special “Thank you” to the angels at Branford Hills who treated her with dignity, respect and kindness.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated March 1 in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at the Church of St. Vincent de Paul,East Haven, with burial following at All Saints Mausoleum in North Haven. Funerals services were under the care of the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, East Haven. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105-9959 or St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish, 80 Taylor Ave., East Haven, CT 06512 in memory of Marie Bucci.
